THE HOUSE

The house sleeps 4. There are two double bedrooms, two shower rooms, a very large salon, gorgeous fitted kitchen with all appliances, utility room, entrance lobby and very pretty garden room ready to enjoy those hot summer evenings.

For those quiet uninterrupted moments, there is a second floor level with a desk, WIFI, and the best view of the sea.

This house is ideally located for exploring the beaches, villages and markets of Île de Ré by bike. Bike hire is just a 2 minute walk from the house.

Île de Ré always in season!

Île de Ré is France’s favourite holiday island – a 30km-long flat strip of land with photogenic villages, old ports and sandy beaches – is small enough to cycle round, or to explore on horseback.

Long the holiday haven of affluent Parisiens, this dreamy, golden-hued island can be found a half-hour drive from La Rochelle. Perfect if you’re looking to rediscover life’s simple pleasures.

Saint Martin de Ré is one of the most beautiful and the biggest town on the Island of Ré. Everything in Saint Martin is historic, it has retained almost all of its original walls and buildings and evidence of the numerous fierce naval battles fought here, remains.

We had a lovely stay, thank you. Ile de Re is just gorgeous. Your house is so well placed. So central and yet off the beaten track. It was easy to stroll into town for an ice-cream or to potter around the shops. Parking in the cemetery was great. No problems there. It takes no time to get over to the beaches. The kids loved bodyboarding and having picnics on the beach. We loved the little bar/restaurant on the corner of Rue Merindot. The food was great and the staff are lovely.The house was very well equipped. The kitchen and shower rooms are really lovely, clean and fresh. It was great having U.K. TV to watch some of Wimbledon. We ate all our meals outside, the courtyard is pretty and so private. The beds were comfortable and good sizes. Valerie came to meet us to help us find our way with the car to unload which was great, as driving around the narrow streets and one way system on our own would have been difficult.

We had a great time - thank you! You’ve a lovely house in a great location - as you obviously realise - and we very much enjoyed our stay.

We surfed every morning - strong wind and rain were no deterrent! - and cycled all afternoon, making for a high-energy, restorative break from the school and work. We knew the weather could throw anything at us in April, but the flip side was quiet cycle paths and beaches and stronger calf muscles!

Good hot showers, an efficient washing machine, comfortable beds, and general cleanliness were all appreciated. We’ll definitely be in touch if we're passing that way through France again.

We had a great time again île De Ré and Galathée was a wonderful place to stay. What a charming and well-appointed home. We made good use of Bikes (electric!) and revisited Ars, Loix, Flotte and Bois Plage, oh, and the Cave Coop of course !! We ate and enjoyed La Cabane, Les Embruns La Marin, and La Cible. Weather mixed but did not prevent our enjoyment. Valerie was a great help, thank you, and we can look forward to a few evenings to enjoy our wines!
